Breakthrough offers a writer’s journey into the Welsh Tale of Taliesin. The Tale is compelling for writers because it provides a pathway to access the poetic imagination. We have taken this story of lyrical empowerment and created original and easy-to-do exercises that lead the writer into connection with the dynamics of sound in language; the power of the four elements; the connection between self and nature and self and the word.

It is suitable for writers at any level of expertise. It's a great way to find your poetic voice or extend the possibilities of your expression through contact with the archetypal story.

WHAT IS BREAKTHROUGH ?

It's a tutored creative writing course that follows the Welsh Tale of Taliesin. The course consists of six sessions. Each session is a creative writing adventure designed to develop your imagination.

YOUR ONLINE TUTOR

An experienced tutor accompanies you, responding to your writing and guiding the growth of your imagination. Your tutor is an ear for your writing voice, a sensitive reader of your work. She or he will observe, encourage and give guidance or make suggestions. The tutor’s role is to encompass your journey in an entirely intuitive way, supporting those moments when your voice is truly original, noticing when your imagination sprouts a new leaf.

PEER RESPONSE

You can also read and respond to the work of your fellow writers. Your encouragement can build creative community as you share the journey of these lessons.

A GROUP OF WRITERS IS A POWERFUL THING

You are connected to a group of fellow writers, sharing, encouraging and inspiring each other with your work. We cap the numbers in your group so that you can develop a real connection. Being part of a regular writing community seals your commitment to your writing practice.

WHAT IS YOUR TIME COMMITMENT FOR EACH MODULE ?

Put aside two hours per week for six weeks. In that time you will listen to the audio lesson, complete the writing exercises, post them on the forum, read the work of others, develop conversations and receive tutor feedback.
